Hello everybody, I don’t know much about financial stuff, so I’d like to ask you which one is better to have – credit card or debit card? I keep encountering these two terms and, to be frank, I’m not even sure I know what’s the difference.
So if anyone can explain this to me and suggest which one is better to have would be very cool!
If you just need something to ‘store’ your money and make purchases with, get a debit card. But if you need loans or something like this, then credit is the answer!
Yes, debit cards will allow you to spend the money which you have deposited on the credit card, whereas in case you have a credit card, you will be able to borrow money from the bank you got the credit card from in order to make purchases or just withdraw cash.
So it all depends on your needs after all. I think however that it’s quite worthwhile to have a credit card, they also have many rewards, cash back programs etc. which can be really handy.
But in case you decide to get a credit card, make sure that you check carefully the interest rates (purchases APR, cash advance APR, balance transfer APR and so on). For many cards they are rather ridiculously high, so in the end instead of earning money you’ll lose them…I had a few credit cards before but I was not terribly happy with them, so recently I switched to debit. But of course, it’s your choice, and different people have different needs. I’m just telling you to read carefully all the details regarding what’s involved there and take a wise decision on which card to choose.
I’d say definitely a credit card! I mean, with debit cards you have no option to earn extra cash, it’s just like a storing place.
I’ve always had credit cards and, although I admit that some of them for not extremely great, with some I really got many rewards and bonuses and they were definitely worthwhile! Just be careful which one you choose, that’s a very important thing. Luckily you can find detailed information about most of the credit cards online so you can compare various options.
Good luck!
I usually only had debit cards, to me it seems too complicated to deal with these credit cards and I’m never sure whether I earn or lose money with them…I had a credit card a few years ago and it was not the best experience. Since then, I stick to debit.
But of course, this depends on your needs…Just make sure you read carefully about interest rates and stuff in case you decide to get a credit card
