With its great cash back rewards system and possibility to continuously monitor your credit score, the Capital One Journey Student Rewards Credit card is a perfect option for students. If you decide to apply for such a card, we’re here to show you what to do in order to fill in and submit an online application form.

Before proceeding with this application, make sure you meet all of the following requirements/criteria of eligibility:

Be a US citizen enrolled in a college or university
Be at least 18 years old
Have a valid social security number, mailing and email address, and phone number
Be willing to provide financial information including your income and monthly rent or mortgage details

If you decide to apply for a Capital One Journey Student Rewards Credit Card and you meet all the requirements listed above, here are the steps you need to follow in order to complete and submit an online application.

Step 1: Open the credit card’s homepage and click on ‘Apply Now’ in order to open the online application form.

Step 2: Before you proceed to fill in the application, read carefully the Rates and Disclosures of this card.

Step 3: Introduce information about yourself, including: your first name, middle initial (optional), last name, email address, street address, city, state, ZIP code, primary phone number (optionally you can also provide your secondary phone number and employer phone number), social security number, date of birth.

Furthermore, provide information about your housing status (whether you own or rent your house and how much monthly rent or mortgage you are paying), and choose whether you have or not an investment account (optional).

Step 4: Select whether you are a student or not and provide information about your employment status. Optionally, choose whether you would be interested in blank checks to use for cash advances.

At this step, you will also be asked whether you have any other bank accounts and whether you would like to choose the language of correspondence.

Step 5: Read carefully the card’s Important Disclosures and, should you agree with all of them, press the ‘CONTINUE TO REVIEW’ button.

Q: What does the banking routing number stand for?

The banking routing number represents the location where your account was opened and it is a 9-digit number usually printed on the bottom of your checks. This number is used for payment processing and you might be asked for it when you are making a payment online or by phone. You can see your routing number when you log in to Online Banking.

Q: Is the Capital One Journey Student Rewards card designed only for students?

No. Even though most of student credit cards require the holder to be a college student, this is not the case with the Capital One Journey Student Rewards card. In order to be eligible to qualify for the Journey Student Rewards credit card from Capital One you just need to have at least average credit.

Q: I remember my username, but I forgot my password. How can I regain it?

You should not worry, since that is a very common situation. The system is designed so as to help you easily regain it. You need to click on “Forgot my password” field when you go to online banking and you will be asked to provide your username and the last 4 digits of your social security number. Once you have done this, press ‘Continue’ and you will be able to reset your password.
