Hello everybody, I have a question. I just finished high-school and I am now starting to apply for universities. After some searches though, I am getting a bit discouraged, seeing how big tuition fees are for many of the universities I would like to apply to. However, some people advise me to get a student loan to help me with this. Is there anybody else in my situation who got a loan? If so, is it worthwhile? Please let me know as soon as you can! Thanks!

I had to get one like 10 years ago…would have been impossible to go to college without this.

Sadly though, I majored in philosophy, then I did grad school etc. and, as you can imagine, my loan is not yet paid…and I heard that’s the case with most of students in the humanities nowadays. So you should consider also this. Btw, what’s your major?

If I were you I’d avoid these loans like the plague, especially if they are given through universities themselves.

They tend to have huge interest rates and you’ll  never be able to repay them.

Search for other kind of loans better, with lower interest, I’m sure you can find something feasible

Yup, it’s a dangerous thing to do, many students are not able to repay these loans…

However, sometimes that’s the only option available, college education is so damn expensive nowadays!

I was also forced to take a loan, but luckily I managed to repay it, although with a little bit of delay, I have to admit.

I’ve always been a bookish person so I plan to major in Philosophy…Now I’m starting to get rather worried hearing how difficult is to repay these loans. And well, I have to admit, philosophy is not something which guarantees lots of money in the future, especially nowadays…

However, I don’t see other solutions, there are also not so many scholarships around for humanities majors and the few ones which I could apply for are very competitive and so on, so in the end I guess that regardless how problematic these loans are, I’ll have no choice but to take one if I want to continue my studies…
