The Affinity Credit Union Low Fee MasterCard is a low cost credit card ($12 annual fee) with great features such as MasterPurchase, MasterTrip, Extended Warranty, Credit Card Registry. Additionally you can have the Choice Rewards option ($24) and get 1 point for each $1 spent on eligible purchases.
At the time of your online application you need to meet the following criteria of eligibility:
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Be a permanent resident of Canada
- Be a credit union member or visit a local credit union branch to become one
- Be open to provide information regarding your personal data, financial situation and employment status.
How to Apply

Step 1: Access the card’s promotional page (Affinity Credit Union website) and read the detailed description related to this Affinity Credit Union Low Fee MasterCard. Here, click on the ‘CUETS website’ link as shown below.
Step 2: You’ll be directed to the CUETS credit cards’ homepage. Next to the description and the exact name of the card you want to apply for press the ‘Apply Now’ button.
Step 3: Confirm you are a member of the credit union by selecting the ‘yes’ option in the pop up window which will appear. If you are not a member you’ll first need to visit a local credit union branch in order to open an account personally. If you already are a member and selected the ‘yes’ option, you’ll need to provide also your credit union branch in the appropriate field. Finally click on the ‘Continue’ button to start your application.
Step 4: Complete the section regarding the primary’s cardholder information by entering the following information: your first, middle and last name, home address, city, province, postal code, housing status, monthly payment, years at the current address, phone number and mobile phone number.
Step 5: Introduce your personal information such as your social insurance number (optional), date of birth, mother’s maiden name and email address (optional). Complete the section related to your employment information by selecting your employment status and choose whether you’d like to add an authorized user.
Step 6: In case you want to make a balance transfer and/or add a Balance Protection Insurance select the related boxes and introduce the required information which will be asked to. Press ‘Continue’ to review and submit your application for evaluation.
Q: Can I do a balance transfer to pay off my other credit cards after I applied for Affinity credit card?
Yes, there is an option of transferring money to other credit cards in order to pay off the credit, but only if you have enough credit available on your new Affinity card. For performing the balance transfer, you should contact MSUFCU via phone and request a balance transfer. It is necessary to have the amount to be transferred and account or card number ready with you so as to perform the transfer immediately.
Q: What is additional users’ information necessary for opening an online account?
There is an option of adding the additional user for your account. It will be a person who could use the account as you are using it but he/she is not responsible for the debt and does not have to pay it off in case it happens. The necessary information about the additional authorized user are a user role, e-mail address, first name, last name, country, state and phone number.
Q: What should I do if a get an alert call or message that something is happening on my credit card?
The Fraud Alert Management system works on continual monitoring of card activity and it is made to help protect the accounts against fraud. When something unusual happens with your card, you will be notified via call or message. If you are not performing unusual changes, you need to report that and then Fraud Alert Management will help you block your cards and report unauthorized usage. The last four digits of your Social Security Number are necessary for the Fraud Alert Management representative in order to be able to assist you.
